I have just completed my first half term in university, in which time I have been receiving mentoring from Cosmic People, specifically from Christopher. The reason I am getting in touch today is just to express how incredibly happy and grateful I am for all the amazing help I’ve received from Christopher. I struggle with anxiety and Christopher does an amazing job at making me feel so comfortable and at ease, not to mention the great advice and support he has provided me with. I genuinely do not think I could have achieved this much in my course in this short time, if it was not for his fantastic help. His passion for his work really shines through and you can tell he truly cares about you being successful in your studies.

Working with you has been a truly touching experience. My autism prevents me from exaggerating or making definitive statements that I don’t believe in, so understand that everything I say is from the heart.

Over the course of our sessions, significant takeaways were that I was able to feel seen, respected and encouraged. One of my biggest insecurities in life is not being understood, but the fact that you were able to meticulously notice the nuanced aspects of my being, really meant the world to me. Society and people around me forever dictate how I should be and think, but you allowed me the space to express myself freely and guided me to take the right steps to deal with what I was struggling with. Lynne has been a fantastic tutor to work with throughout my time as an Undergraduate Student at Coventry University. I have really appreciated all the efficient help and academic advice, which has enabled me to make successful progression during and throughout the course of my studies (be it for assignment and revision purposes in preparation for examinations, as well as covering all different aspects relating to my course). As a result of this, I’m currently on track to achieve a 1st Class Honours Degree.

The termly review and use of an ILP (Individual Learning Plan) certainly helped in this regard, ensuring I was staying on-track, and meeting both my short and long-term goals. Without her expertise and sufficient guidance, I don’t believe this result would have been strictly possible. Having sessions that were delivered remotely via Skype had been very convenient, and ensured all the allocated slots for our sessions were being used effectively, making it somewhat productive. Lynne’s response time was excellent if there was any queries which I had or required re-scheduling for any appointments. The whole experience has been an absolute pleasure and memorable, for which I’ll remain very grateful for.

We have built up a fantastic relationship over the years and without her support I don’t think I would have coped despite my road traffic accident which was a setback for me massively but her perseverance, encouragement alongside all her effectiveness strategies bought forward to the table, really pushed me to continue progressing throughout my studies. I have had academic mentors and support before but what truly set my mentor apart was their genuine care for my well-being. She consistently went above and beyond her duty by providing emotional support during stressful periods. Whenever doubts or insecurities crept in and things became incredibly tough, she was always there to offer words of encouragement and reassurance. She was there for me during the toughest times of my life over the past two years.

Their dedication extended beyond our scheduled meetings; they were always available via email to address any concerns or queries promptly. Their timely responses and willingness to help further emphasised their commitment to ensuring my success, and the level of care and attentiveness was second to none.

I joked to Catherine that she deserves a Pride Of Britain Award, but I truly meant it; she has consistently showed up for me the way no one else ever has in my life, and that is not only one of the kindest things a human being can do, but it is life changing. I wanted to take a moment to mention how appreciative I have been of my study support mentor Marlene. I truly don’t believe I would have received the high marks I have done for my assignments without her help, especially my dissertation. Considering that Marlene was tasked with mentoring me in a difficult subject she had no prior knowledge about.

My mentoring with her is now finished I believe, but she mentioned I could email you with any feedback I had about my mentoring from her. I would like to thank you for allocating me with a specialist tutor GP for my one-to-one study skills support. I was uncertain when you offered me virtual sessions in January 2020, however that has been an advantage for me as when we went into lockdown, I carried on accessing the support virtually. She is an excellent specialist tutor, who has provided me with high level of support which has prepared, educated, and developed me into a confident student. She understood my learning needs, strength and weaknesses and she ensured the support offered would allow me to achieve my goals and outcomes. As a result of the exceptional support received, I was able to write very good assignments and obtained very good grades, hence I am going to graduate with the best degree classification.

As you know it was a real struggle to find someone that Ben felt comfortable with and vitally who was able to understand what Ben needed. Then Ben got Anna who absolutely understood Ben and what he needed and from the very first session he was happy. Other Support teachers follow the tried and tested route which they, I assume, have been taught and failed to listen and understand what the individual student actually needs and wants from the support. Anna does not do this and that is the difference. There is nothing more Ben or I could have asked for from Anna. She unfailingly supported Ben and in addition saw him at a time and on a day that worked for him which was a massive help.

In addition to her support of Ben she also happily took the time to liaise with me should I need it, which I am sure is over and above her role. I asked Ben what he wanted me to say to you about Anna and he said “She’s brilliant”.

I would not hesitate to recommend Anna to anyone who needed support – she is great.

rom the start I found our sessions professional, structured, and educational. Every session had a clear defined plan of what we wanted to achieve as well as identifying goals for the next session. I feel we have built rapport, getting to know how each other works and collaboratively plan how to conduct our sessions. I have found our sessions productive, informative, and beneficial allowing me to develop my academic writing skills and moving towards a much more critical writing voice. This has led to significant improvements in my overall grades.

Since working with Giovanna my grades have improved approximately 10% whilst moving from level 5 to level 6. I am very happy to be working with Giovanna next academic year and I am looking forward to our sessions once they continue after summer break.
